30 october Isle of Pines (NEW CALEDONIA)

[Stefy]: "Our day? In the morning we wake up when the tent starts to get too hot. I stand up, I pull up the zipper of the tent and stay five minutes looking out without saying anything; green palms, pines pointing straight to the sky, the sun shines on the clear water... peace.

Across Rouleaux Bay: just us and our little green tent. I prepare the breakfast with butter and salt biscuits  and, since Gabi loaned us a kettle, we also have hot tea and coffee.
A minute later we are in the water... in this huge and natural swimming pool... we spend hours... after a good read, you can walk along the bay enjoying the nature...

In the afternoon, after a 20 minutes stroll on a dirt road, we come to the only shop in the area to eat a nice coconut ice cream...
We expect the sunset doing a  bath or writing our notes on the diary and when the sun disappears, we prepare the "dinner".

Time to go to sleep after a nice tea on the beach... illuminated only by the moon and the stars...
The night sky is spectacular... never seen so many stars all together...
The night is chilly but wrapped in our sleeping bags: we are great! "

31 october Noumea (NEW CALEDONIA)

We're back in the capital Noumea.
We dedicate the entire day to discover it!

We start with a breakfast at the "Marché de Noumea", the city market where they sell not only fruits, vegetables and souvenirs but also fragrant croissants, pan de chocolate and fried bananas donuts!
As two Frenchmen, seated at a table of the only bistro, we enjoy a hearty breakfast and admire the local daily life...

Not far away there is the "Mwa Ta", a large totem, 12 meters high decanting "Karnak" identity, the native Melanesian, as to remember us where we really are.

We follow the route suggested by Lonely Planet and we cross the various avenues with names of great soldiers and French generals or battles of the past; we reach Saint Joseph Church where the priest is giving the final blessing.
I was very impressed to see that at the end of the Mass, the priest shaking hands to every believer who was leaving the house of the Lord.

"Place de Cocotiet", the city park, located right in the city center.
We relax enjoying a great French baguette with ham while we wait for our friend Mathieu.

"We should not denie that being nomads has always filled us with joy. In our minds it is associated with escape from history, oppression, coercion and boring law, the absolute freedom ' and the road has always led us west."

- Fallace Stegner -

Today is a holiday and all the museums are closed....

Set aside the culture, we decide to head to the Bay de Citrones for a drink before the many kite surfers and the locals sunbathing...

But the day is still long!
Mathieu invites his Mexican friend and an Indonesian man for the dinner; Stefy, now "vagabond cook", (has cooked everywhere in the world by now!), prepares an abundant omelets with cheese and ham...

01 november Noumea (NEW CALEDONIA)

The long journey home starts: from South Pacific we will go to the Middle East and then to Europe: nearly 31 hours of uninterrupted journey...

We come back home richer than before, with many new memories, adventures, experiences and anecdotes to tell; stories to share; new teachings…

Merci Nouvelle Calédonie
